On J.K. Rowling and Transgender Pain
J.K. Rowling and I disagree on a lot, but she knocked it out of the park for freedom, reason, and nuance in this article.
It is a long read, but a good one. Quite honestly, it is only the tip of the iceberg. What concerns me most about the transgender movement is that it only tells one side of the story. Those who later regret their transitions are ignored, even if they had once been followed by the media. Many de-transition stories can be found online on sites like sexchangeregret.com.
I started looking into this issue over ten years ago when one of our friends decided to transition while her husband was fighting in Iraq. He came back and was devastated. He tried to work with her to save their marriage, but couldn’t. I would encourage anyone interested in this to look at the history of transitioning, specifically at Johns Hopkins in the 1970s and why they ceased doing transition surgeries, Also, if you don’t know much about transition surgery, specifically male to female, I would encourage looking into that. It reads like something out of a Nazi human experimentation handbook.
I really fear that our chickens will come home to roost on this one and we will look back on this as a sort of second eugenics movement. Why do I say this?
1) Sex reassignment surgery for males makes them incapable of producing biological children.
2) Many young people who are grappling with identity are being given powerful drugs that will make them unable to have biological children.
Of course if you try to talk about this issue you are immediately labeled transphobic. I’m not so much afraid OF Trans people as FOR them.
